Meet Our Team

Debbie Upland is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Business Professional Insurance Associates (BPIA). Debbie earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in addition to her high school teaching credential from the University of San Francisco and a Master’s in Education from Stanford University. She became a licensed insurance broker for Property & Casualty, Life Insurance and Securities in 1980.

Debbie joined Bay Area Insurance Agency in 1985 and then became an affiliate of Professional Insurance Associates in 1989. She, with Virginia Fontana, established BPIA in 1999.

BPIA focuses on small business and non-profit agencies. Debbie’s goal is to provide clients with a “one-stop” insurance agency. She is passionate when it comes to surpassing client expectations. BPIA’s continued growth is validation of Debbie, the BPIA team’s efforts and satisfied clients’ referrals. Debbie, a world traveler, takes every opportunity to “pack her bags” and cruise to exotic ports. She can be found, when not sailing the high seas, treasuring downtime with family and life-long friends.
